Greetings!

We want to hear your ideas on new creatures you’d like to see in the game.

Before posting your suggestions, I’d like you to follow a few simple rules. This will allow us all to more easily read through the suggestions, and follows a process similar to our own internal design process.

• Create one post per creature in the appropriate forum category.
• Be constructive when challenging someone’s idea and be open when receiving feedback. For example, if you don’t like something, try to think of how you could make it better.
• Use the template below to help shape your suggestions.

Let your forum colleagues challenge your idea so you can improve on it with their feedback.
As an example, here’s a template I’ve made using the infamous Bone Puppeteer.

Have fun!
DChallenger

Creature name: Bone Puppeteer

The Bone Puppeteer is a real party animal who’s never alone for long. He likes to bother attackers with his toys and invite other creatures to the party with his killer dance moves.

The bone puppeteer tries to stay out of range of the hero. He stays within 10 meters of the hero, using his abilities on the nearby creatures. If a hero approaches him he will move away.
When the bone puppeteer dies he casts an AoE ability linked to his specialization.

Okay, I'll give it a try...

Creature name: Werewolf
Visual Concept: Two distinctive shapes, starts out as a massive, strong human, maybe in the guise of a castle guard. He could wear a collar with a name tag in the shape of a bone that reads 'Rex' or something. Once certain criteria are met, he turns into one hullking, canine beast (and please, a real transformation, not just a hairy face ^_ ~).

Creature Background: While Nigel is charming, those Opolencians that like their pets more on the cuddly and fluffy side might consider Rex as top dog for their castle. He gets along well with your Bad Dogs and even shared a bone with Mittens. Careful though, his bark and howls might cause trouble with your neighbours.

Creature Role: Melee DPS

Stats:

If possible, the stats should shift beween the two forms (Human/Wolf)

  • Movement Speed: Medium / Fast
  • Attack Speed: Slow / Medium
  • Attack Damage: Medium / High
  • Defense: High / Medium

Creature Behaviour: The werewolf tries to engage the hero and will move in for a melee attack. While in human form, he has no access to his specialities. Once a damage threshold is reached, the werewolf will shapeshift into his wolf form - this also refreshes his health pool. He has now access to one of the three selectable specializations.

Specializations:

Specialization 1: A bark worse than the Bite

  • Effect: Induces Fear in the hero, causing it to flee from the werewolf for a few seconds.
  • Range: Medium
  • Cooldown: 6s
  • Target Type: Single Target

Specialization 2: Meet the pack

  • Effect: Spawns a lowlevel canine creature (maybe a bad dog?) that assists the werewolf. There can never be more than two assisting canines present at any one time.
  • Range: Long
  • Cooldown: 5s
  • Target Type: Next to Caster

Specialization 3: Big Bad Bite

  • Effect: Charges a nearby castle unit of a lower defence rating than the werewolf and with a bite animation transforms it into another werewolf (already in the wolf shape, so no third transformation phase there).
  • Range: Medium
  • Cooldown: 10s
  • Target Type: Single Target

Creature name: Giant Hammer

Visual Concept:A big troll like creature with a big 2 handed hammer and chains in his legs.

Creature Background: This giant is the best bodyguard a castle owner can have, if he accepts the risks. He's too dumb to know what's right and what's wrong, and also his true name, so he was arrested inside one of your dungeon cells. As soon as you release him he will try to smash every thing that can move, and by everything i mean....everything.

Creature Role: Tank

Stats:
Movement Speed: Very slow
Attack Speed: Very slow
Attack Damage: Very High
Defense:Very High (Physical) - Medium (Magic)
Other: All of his his attacks have a chance to also harm any creature (25% chance to also hit creatures with each attack; the rotating hammer skill has a 10% chance per second while it lasts), so ranged creatures might work better alongside it.

Creature Behaviour: The Giant Hammer always try to chase the hero, so he can smash something different. It's very slow but It's attacks have a wide range and also unleash some small bolts or cracks in the ground with random behaviour. One of its ways to reach ranged heroes is his wide attack range, despite its very slow movement.

Specializations:
Specialization 1: Raging Hammer
Effect: As soon as the Giant Hammer sees the hero, he becomes enraged if he cannot smash the hero in due time and if his health is less than 50%.
Range: Self
Cooldown: activates when the hammer reachs 50% health. Might ramdomly activate again if he's still alive.
Target Type: Single Target

Specialization 2: Rotating Hammer
Effect: Begins to rotate his giant hammer towards the hero in a large radial area for 3 seconds (doesnt activate very far from the hero), after that the Giant Hammer becames dizzy (stun). If the hero is caught he is throw far away and receives a good ammount of physical damage.
Range: Long (Radial)
Cooldown: 8s (activated only two times, after that he throws his hammer towards the hero and loses it and his attack power)
Target Type: Single Target

Specialization 3: Hungry Hammer
Effect: Stops and picks a big piece of meat and eat a chunk of it. Recovers 40% of his Max HP. The first triggers occurs at less than 75% health.
Range: Self
Cooldown: 8s
Target Type: Single Target

Edit: 1) Nosleinad here, please change my forum name ;).
2) And how about making a contest out of this? It would surely spice the minds of other players.

Isn't bone puppeteer already there? The other ones seem pretty cool.. Giant hammer reminds me of the D3 mallet lord.

So I had a big arse description of a creature for you 'Snuggles the Bear' and I was logged into the forums but after I wrote it up (took 40 minutes) and I clicked Submit it took me to the log into forums page. I pressed BACK and all my post was gone and it was showing me as logged in at the top right. You need to fix this constant log AFK ppl out cos that's fukn bullsh1t. Also when I do log in it takes me to the NEWS page and doesn't post my reply... I have to have it copy/pasted.
I will do it again but know that you need to fix this issue because it was very annoying >_<

Creature Name: Snuggles The Bear

Visual Concept: Brown bear in a yellow vest and black bowler hat

Creature Background: Snuggles the bear was given to Sir Painhammer as a boy by his father Sir Veinslammer. The two grew up as best friends. As Snuggles grew bigger and scarier Sir Painhammer had the bright idea to send him to the lowest reaches of his Castle to defend his Treasure. Sir Painhammer didn't visit Snuggles who became sad and lonely and angry but remained loyal. Snuggles was very unpredicatable when thieves came - some being batted around like a toy, some being eaten to sate Snuggles' hunger, and some being hugged in Snuggles' crushing embrace.

Creature role: Tank/Control/Melee DPS depending on Specialization

Stats
Movement Speed: Medium
Attack Speed: Medium
Attack Damage: Medium
Defense: High

Creature behaviour: Snuggles has a keen sense of smell and will hunt down thieves immediately and relentlessly. Could be given a slightly bigger defense zone radius.

Specialization 1: Bear Hug
Snuggles needs his affection like the good ol' days with Sir Painhammer. Snuggles wraps the player in a bear hug that immobilizes the player for 3 seconds but they are free to use pots, non-mobile skills, attack, etc. Bear hug deals 10% of the players life per second.
Range: melee
Cooldown: 5 seconds
Target type: Single target

Specialization 2: Swat
Snuggles swats at the player with his left or right paw knocking them 4 squares left or right. Swat deals 200/400/600/800 damage depending on Snuggles level. Swat isn't designed to do that much damage...rather to synergize with traps and aggro other mobs.
Range: melee
Cooldown: 3 seconds
Target type: Single target

Specialization 3: Bite
Snuggles isn't fed very often so he takes a meal when it presents itself. Snuggles bites the player dealing massive damage. Bite is supposed to be avoidable so the Bite animation should be slow. Bite deals 300/550/800/1050 damage depending on Snuggles level.
Range: melee
Cooldown: 5 seconds
Target type: Single target

I feel Snuggles the bear is rather strong and should be at least 6 defense points. He could maybe start from level 8.

Future reference to other people making a similar post... COPY the reply before you press SUBMIT or you may have to re-write it like me.

  • Creature name: Caerbannog
  • Visual concept: Small, fluffy, bipedal rabbit or other such cute animal.
  • Creature background: This little guy is one of the many reasons you don't want to judge a book by it's cover. Ooh, he might look small and soft and cuddly, but that doesn't mean that you should ignore him. Or leave him for last. Or do anything but kill the bugger right away when you see him.
  • Creature role: Control
  • Movement speed: Slow
  • Attack speed: Slow
  • Attack damage: High
  • Defense: Low
  • Other: Ranged attacker, fires slow, but fairly powerful projectiles between using his abilities. Very high dodge rating.
  • Creature behavior: AI similar to bone puppeteers.

SPECIALIZATIONS

Specialization 1: Force pull

  • Effect: After channeling for 2 seconds, Caerbannog pulls the hero to a halfway point between him and the hero's original location. Upgrading adds a 1 second stun which activates when the hero gets up from the pull.
  • Range: Infinite, not broken by walls, although the hero cannot get pulled through one.
  • Cooldown: 8 seconds.

Specialization 2: Damage drain

  • Effect: Caerbannog starts channeling, draining the damage of the hero and increasing the damage of the monsters in an AOE around Caerbannog, himself included. Upgrading increases the size of the AOE, speed of the drain and the damage increase. During channeling, Caerbannog gains immunity to knockback and stuns, making it so that the only thing that can stop the channel is him dying or running away.
  • Range: Long, not broken by walls.
  • Cooldown: 10s
  • Target type: Single target/AOE

Specialization 3: Blinding cuteness

  • Effect: When Caerbannog casts this spell, a large white ring appears around the hero. If the hero doesn't leave the ring within 1.5 seconds, the player's screen goes completely white for 3 seconds. Upgrading adds an additional ring of light in whatever direction the hero is facing.
  • Range: Long, and the circle itself should be just large enough so that the hero can get out of it withing 1 second with normal movement speed.
  • Cooldown: 5s
  • Target type: AOE.

Note: Caerbannog is meant to be more of a big distraction for the hero, something that makes them lose all sense and go straight for the bugger. The high dodge rating is something against ranged classes, although there is probably a more effective way to do this. His defense rating should be 6 or 8, as his abilities are incredibly powerful, but the guy himself is really weak.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Keep them coming!

But to make it easier to iterate on each other ideas, please create a topic for each creature idea you have.

I will close and pin this topic so that we have it as a reference.
