I've pieced together a tower that's moderately difficult to raid and tends to catch a little more than 1/2 of the people who attempt it, I'm happy enough with my kill rate overall.

However, I can't kill Knights. Nothing seems to bother them in the slightest. Zeke doesn't do enough to put them down outright, they shrug off damage traps, stuns don't last long enough to matter, ranged, melee, traps, CC, whatever. No setup I've come up with has managed to even threaten a Knight.

Seeing this in my replays I started leveling my own Knight, and I'm seeing the same thing. I can ham-hand my way through almost any castle, and even the really nasty high-crown/kill-count ones just make me pop a pot or two.

I've heard that late-game Knights taper off as their armor makes less of a difference there and I know that changes will happen as the beta continues; but is there any way in the current state of the game to fight back against Knights?

Knights

A. stand in front of the minion to deal damage
B. Cant move while attacking
C. have to chase minions which run away as soon as they drop low

Try to set up something smart which take advantages of the knights weak points. Zekes, Dampener, Corrision Traps, Spring Boards, Defendotrons and Ballista are your friends there.

Knights;

A. Run carelessly into traps, mobs, bosses same level or higher.
B. Mash Buttons
C. Win Castle

Honestly I have seen so many knights just faceroll my castle diving into mobs not kiting or hitting traps galore and living and there is no punishment. There is too much forgiveness for that class and the skill ceiling is very low.

I know how to kill knights really well I have been up to rank 29 in the U.S. with my own non copy pasta castle but I see so many knights just dive into s*** and suffer very little punishment. They need an update.

After levelling my castle to 16 I've been trying to torture knights as payback for it nearly always being knights who ended up shielding my level 14 castle.

So far very little luck.

  • Cyclops = lulz Healing Strike
  • Pete Poundmore = OKish but has softcap issues, it's hard to combine him with other stuff
  • Trapper archer/Zeke = mildly annoying, but they are only level 14!
  • Teleporting Staremasters = Pretty darn annoying, but a half-decent player will probably live

Self-imposed rule: Must use a boss. Elite-stacked boss rooms without a boss? Not a fan.

Sounds like most people have mostly been seeing the same thing I've been. I started as Mage, and looking back I'm pretty proud of how I did. I put up a respectable clear-rate even being squishy as heck.

Once I started playing Knight myself I was amazed at how simple and effective the class is (up to lvl 14, which is how far I've played). My Mage took 4-5 minutes to clear my own castle, Knight barely took 2.

To jump out and talk about the metagame briefly: the Knight has VERY high defense, good offense, a variety of effective and spammy skills, and can easily tap into both physical and melee damage even at low levels. In comparison the Mage has no defense, great offense, a variety of effective but slow skills, and only gets magic damage and has to rely on -resist debuffs to hit magic-resistant targets.

Both classes are actually fun-as-heck to play, but the Mage (up to level 14) simply has nothing on the effectiveness of the Knight, who walks all over minions and traps alike to steal lootz.

I've found that having essentially 4 zones in my castle to kill players works well, I start with a somewhat standard trap only area with hamsters, ballista, finished with some firemines the player is pushed into by charge to kill the clueless people, or generally force better players to chug a potion. Followed is a very small room that tends to kill archers though I have a safe area past this room for a clean pull and kill allowing me to validate as an archer. Next up kill mages quick and easy, and my boss room that kills around 50% of knights is snottingham, zeke, megamutton in ballista filled room they are forced to pull into. The kiting allows zeke and mutton to trade off who is attacking while the other heals slightly, while snottingham blows his nose all over the room. No defense should kill everyone, and if a certain setup is abused then players will learn to counter it; so rather than use a cookie cutter knight kill room think up your own, be creative and surprise them with something different.

Depending on your castle level try to use creatures who are researched to the same level as your castle, this restricts you to 50% of creatures but generally helps with stronger creatures over better creature choices.

nasajd probably said it best... Level up your creatures and traps to the same level as your castle. This is probably the most effective way to kill knights (particularly ones that are doing your castle at the appropriate level). You can't stop players who are above your castle level from abusing the mechanics of the game, but putting out maximum potential damage will definitely help in your process.

I noticed some other posters comment that knights don't kite... and I just wanted to point out that kiting every mob is not game play as intended.

My last note will be that surprises are really the best way to kill knights. It's not the bomb traps or zekes that kill them... It's hitting them with the bomb traps when they feel "safe" running around with 75% hp instead of full life after a room that stings only a little... or hitting them with a solid stun or slow while they are trying to escape the barrage of oncoming zeke fire. To boot, zekes aren't even as effective as their weight in regular archers (if you can get them aggroed all at once) or a punching mode pete poundmore if you can catch them off guard with a stun, silence, or slow at the right moment. As someone else above posted, spring traps are great for catching a surprised knight and putting them right where you want them.
