i was just watching the video and thought to myself: lets see if yomeone already posted this on the forum.
i think the priority in patching this is something like this:
- Change the bling model so that you can no longer buy EVERYTHING
- make room and minion customisation possible (if you should get on steam integrate the workshop, ppl will make money FOR YOU)
- make the loot REALLY EPIC. give us cool stats. flat dmg/Crit etc. increases are pretty boring and to easy to choose from make me struggle with a decision because i dont know if i'd rather have life-leeching hell bats spawning 5% of the time or angry bees stunning my foes with a 10% chance for 2 seconds (something like that)
in the end right now your combat is so-so i understand its beeing worked on but lets be honest geting it feel meaty requires really good sound and timing on the visual and acoustic effects which is hard to nail down so the strongest point the game has for itself is user created content and well the epic loot itself
the suggestion i have is make the combat at least average and the player made stuff and the loot exceptional. it will make you a lot of money in the long run
I don't think that's how the workshop works. I haven't played dota 2, so I don't know how they handle player made content if it can go for money. Either way, don't work for free. this patch with the bling changes has been greedy enough, though I excuse it as an honest make made by the entry to the pay-to-win system and being inexperienced with it. SOE was pretty bad with it also, & still is a little on some of the games.
I cannot imagine humanity is stupid enough, to work for free & allow someone ELSE to get paid for their work. Your idea about users modding on workshop and ubi charging for the content is horrible & part of the problem with the whole pay-to-win epidemic. Look at path of exile, or firefall, for good true free-to-play systems.
There is no way I would ever work for free while someone else was being paid for the work on top of it. Your workshop suggestion is a Horrible idea and only part of the problem with this pay-to-win culture that has developed due to consumer laziness and developer greed. Workshop would be bad to begin with, as it would have to be free player-made content, and then Ubi could not compete with it as honestly some people would create better content and it would be free. I don't think most people with dignity and half of a brain would allow someone to be paid for their work when they're not being paid also, on the other hand if users making content were also compensated partially the whole bling system would create an issue as I'd rather be paid in USD than blings if Ubi was being paid in USD also for content I'd create.last edited: July 19, 2013 04:31 (8 months ago)
